Koh Phangan Parties
Many people refer to Koh Phangan as “Party Island” and this is for a very good reason. No other Asian destination hosts so many excellent parties each month. Originally made infamous for the monthly Full Moon Party, a huge beach bash which entertains upwards of 20,000 revellers each month, Koh Phangan now has a regular schedule of parties each month.Full Moon Party – The grandfather of all parties, a whole beach over a kilometre long and a whole area of back streets turn this outdoor dance music extravaganza into one of the greatest party events in the world. Located in Haad Rin, easy to find, just ask any taxi driver!
Half Moon Party – Outdoor partying with a difference, housed in a custom built “party arena” this event features international DJs, excellent facilities and a vibe all of its own. Located a couple of kilometres inland from the coast road in Ban Tai, once again just ask a taxi driver.
Shiva Moon Party – Trance meets the tropics for this classic party in the middle of the jungle. Black lights, neon paint and psychedelic trance are the defining qualities of this excellent event. Located a little past the Half Moon Party venue, fairly easy to find, just follow the crowds!
Moon Set Party – This smaller party happens twice a month in a beautiful cove complete with pirate ship and cliff top chill out area. Only a few hundred people here at the best of times but the location and quality of the venue make up for it. Located in Seethanu, just ask your driver to Pirate Bar.
Ban Sabai Day Party – This storming party happens several times a month the day after each of the major night parties on the island. Excellent DJs and a sublime beach setting make this a classic after party in every sense. Located at the top of Ban Tai, well sign posted.
These are the main parties on Koh Phangan, although there are often one off events held at some of the larger resorts, just keep an eye out for the signs and flyers when you are visiting to learn about these.
