Even Though Koh Phangan looks small on a map, the island is quite large. Koh Phangan is Approximately 12 Kilometers from end to end. So if you are planning to explore the different towns and beaches you will need some form of transport. Many Travelers choose to rent a motorbike to explore the island. Motorbikes range from small mopeds that rent from 150 - 300 Thai Baht per day. Large choppers, sports and road bikes or dirt bikes for travelers that really want to explore the island. Cars are also available and may be a safer option for groups of travelers.
Police are always active on the island and are strict on drunk driving so be sure to obey the laws. Another way to get around is by Songtaew or Taxi van. If Songtaew are full of travelers they can be a cheap way to get around, starting from about 50 Thai Baht. Finally there are several piers on the island where boats can take you to beaches not easily accessible by road such as bottle beach.
